Does anyone know if our Astronaut moonwalkers, while viewing the earth from their nighttime moon, were able to see with the naked eye the city lights on the nightime part of the Earth?

"According to NASA, the earth as seen from the moon takes up less than one degree of arc in the sky. Basically it looks like a big blue marble. No man-made detail can be seen at all; sometimes even the continents are barely distinguishable." www.straightdope.com

newnickname's link corrects itself further down, putting the earth's diameter at almost 2 degrees of arc, i.e., almost quadruple the diameter of the sun or full moon that we see from earth.

The satellite photos of night-time earth, including a striking image circulating on the internet last year of northeastern North America during the power outage, are apparently image-intensified and appear falsely bright.
