Hi Gerry: If I'm reading my STAR-CALC correctly the big dipper (Ursa Major) is below the northern horizon until about 11:00PM at your location. At that time Dubhe; (the top end of the cup) is just becomeing visable. About 03:00AM the whole of the dipper will be above the horizon. It will be at it's highest point in the sky around 08:00AM but by then the sun is also up so you can't see the dipper. Or any other stars for that matter. If you went outside around 04:00 to 05:00AM you should be able to find it with no problem. Hope this helps Regards Mike b. (AKA Byter)
