I understand that the technology does not currently exists...but would it be possible to artifically increase the gravity of a planet or moon? What would the effect on the Earth be if the moon's gravity increased?

Small increases might affect tides,
larger increases like adding mass to the moon until it was close to that of the earths,
would affect our orbit, and cause it to become a two-planet system instead of an earth moon system.
