It's not a yeast infection, the itching is only on the lip of the vagina, usually goes away after a couple of days and then it will return again in a couple weeks then go away this has been going on for years. What could cause this, obgyn said there is no infection. Any clues??? Confused

Could the sensitive skin there be allergic to either the type of panties being used, or the detergent being used?

I believe cotton lined panties "breathe" better. Are they the type used?

Just a thought

You may just have irritation or a slight allergic reaction to soaps, detergents, or I have seen cases where women could have a reaction to certain lubricants, even on condoms. I am not able to find a web page for you, but a product that will ease the discomfort is VagicaineĀ® Cream. It is an over the counter medicine that can be found at many drug stores.

i also get that sometimes, for me, it's simply a patch of dry skin from things like wiping too much or from soap.

Georgia,

I own a website for women (that was affiliated with Answerpool) that was made by King Krimson so that questions such as this can be answered fully. I found a really great website that may help you out a bit with this question. I will post an answer on http://herport.com. HERE.

Georgia, does this happen right after your monthly flow? Since you say it happens every couple of weeks, there is a pattern, perhaps it is due to not getting enough air down there, i.e., wearing pads or tampons -- or because the area stays moister during that time and then when it's over has to adjust.
