My aunt has a fallen (dropped bladder) She has already had a surgery for this a few years back and her doctor told her he did not want to do the surgery again unless he had to, instead he told her to use tampons everyday???? I have never heard of this, is it a common "cure"?
It sounds as if your Aunt has a prolapse and I imagine that the doctor has suggested she use the tampons in the same way as a pessary (a ring inserted into the vagina) is used as support. I would think it well worth your Aunt giving this a try. These prolapses are usually as a result of muscle tone, often as a result of having children, and the condition is very common, as is the use of pessaries as a treatment. Wish your Aunt luck - it's a pretty irritating thing to have to cope with. You sound a very caring niece, so I think your Aunt is lucky to have you around.
