Is there a link between your sex drive and how close together your periods are?

A woman's sex drive is usually higher during ovulation, which is the time when she is more likely to conceive. Call it a force of nature Roll Eyes It's due to an increase in estrogen production.

Normally ovulation occurs around 12-14 days after the first day of your cycle. And an average cycle is about 28 days. With shorter ones, ovulation occurs earlier, estrogen levels rise earlier, and hence increased sex drive is more noticeable.

So what's the deal with me being all horny and needy when I have my stupid period and not so much the rest of the time? What's with that?

Maybe deep down you don't want to get pregnant so you are "erotically charged" during a time when conception would be extremely difficult.
Yeah, that sounds good to me Wink

Honey, it's not just deep down. I don't want to get pregnant AT ALL! That's the reason for the birth control, and for the vasectomy questions. I have NO desire for pregnancy, regardless of the time of the month. Wink

Georgia: "A woman's sex drive is usually higher during ovulation..."
Is that why menopausal women tell their husbands to go back to sleep and leave them alone? Wink
(Or are they just worn out? Roll Eyes)

I dunno TIE...why don't ya tell me Wink

Kidding aside, as a woman goes through menopause she does experience changes such as dryness, thinning walls, and loss of libido all due to reduced hormone production and age.

Georgia, I know a couple of women that have had a hysterectomy (which I suppose is surgical menopause) they are still hot as fire, neither lost any sex drive, (unless they are pretending) What's even worse, both are dating young men. The dryness and thinning walls are certain but the loss of sex drive is probably not.

I never knew that there was a link between your sex drive and periods. If so, some women must ovulate constantly. Smile

Honi, a hysterectomy and a total hysterectomy do not involve the removal of the ovaries - which is where estrogen and progesterone are produced. A total hysterectomy with Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectormy is removal of the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. It is that type of hysterectomy that could be considered surgical menopause.

Oh, and Honi...now you know one more...even down to the dating a younger man Wink
