I've been on birth control for about 5 or 6 months now probably, maybe 7. It had a little effect on my period during the first few months but then got pretty regular, well now I started about a week and half to two weeks before I was supposed to. The only thing I can think of that MIGHT effect it is that I forgot to take one one day and took it at like 3 in the morning and then the one for the next day when I woke up that morning. But I've done that before and it never affected it. I thought it was supposed to make you REALLY regular. Any ideas?
Sweet&Sour.. the missed pill caused your body to trigger its menstruation cycle probably.. I do that also when I miss. And I take a long time to get back into a routine (as in not spotting or bleeding) when this occurs.
I had problems like that when I was on the pill. A lot of what happens when you miss depends on where you are in your pack. If it was towards the end, the hormone level intorduced into your body by the pill is greatly reduced anyway, so missing for a day can put you over that edge and send you into a period.
My suggestion is, if you tend to forget a lot or are having a lot of problems with your period to switch to the shot. When I started the shot my periods got further and further apart until I stopped having them all together...which is something I LOVE!

Actually, I'm pretty good about taking it, the only thing is, I just take it when I get up, which on school day's is at 6:30 and when I go home for the weekends I don't take them until I get up and that could be 11 or 12 sometimes, so that might not be a good thing. But I'm afraid the shot will affect me trying to have kids later. Does any contraceptives have more of an affect than the others on that?
S&S, I've not heard of any hormonal based birth control that affected your ability to have children later. Some of the mechanical ones I've heard some problems about.

The pill IS supposed to help make you regular. That's the only reason I went on it in the first place. And it worked great for me. Like you, though, I take me pill when I get up, whether it's at 5:30 in the morning or at noon, and I haven't [KNOCK ON WOOD!!!] had a problem yet. It could be that your body is still adjusting to the birth control pills, it might take a few months to sort itself out. But if you are concerned, you should really talk to your doctor.
