There are quite a few versions of birth control.. hormone AND barrier versions. You might also see about having your husband get himself another vasectomy. You might try a cervical cap or a diaphragm. Here is a site with more information. Birth Control

I would be cautious of the rhythym method. It's better than nothing, but it's not very effective (and my primary source on that is a catholic priest with a degree in sex ed.)

Sounds to me like you have an allergy to spermicide. That's actually usually what women are allergic to. If you are allergic to latex, you would break out and rash if you were wearing latex gloves, or when a doctor touched you with his, even the dentist. If this does not happen, you are not allergic to latex. Your first order of business, of course: go to your obgyn and find out what's wrong. Then you can look at your options, with which your doctor can help. There are condoms without spermicide, though you should probably use a lube, too. There are sheepskin condoms. Very effective against pregnancy, not at all against STDs. There are caps and diaphragms. Visit Planned Parenthood for more information. Natural family planning and the withdrawal method are not very effective. Just hoping you've got the timing right would not make me very comfortable... There is a lot of room for error. And all it takes is one sperm in the right place at the right time. I am not sure what the 'rhythm' method is that Methos refers to. Or, you could always just not have sex.

elexina - the rhythm method was described above. It's the same as 'natural family planning,' which you mention. It basically consists of only having sex during the times when the woman is least likely to be fertile. It is the only birth control method that the Catholic church considers moral (the official policy of the catholic church is that both condoms and the pill are immoral), unfortunately it isn't very effective (but yes, better than nothing).
