So, b/c ft^3 is divided by lb, is it negative, thus cancelling out all the ft?

Because lb per ft^3 = lb/ft^3 which is lb(ft^-3), so when you add the exponents ft^2 x ft x ft^-3, =ft^0 which is 1. Another way of looking at it is: X^3/X^3 =1. Or x^2/X^-2 = X^4. When you change an exponent from denominator to numerator you change the sign + to - and vice-versa. Wink
