Why do people close their eyes evenwhere then there is large sound produced?

Your question has been posted for quite some time. No one has posted a definitive answer. I'll offer a guess.
Our eyes are very important to our survival and can be damaged easily. Our bodies have been built to protect it self with reflex actions.
Closing our eyes to prevent damage is a good reflex to have.
