Cucumbers on your eyes for puffiness?
Mayonaisse in your hair for shine?
Banana peel on your forehead for your headache?
Any wives tales or concoctions you've tried beauty related.
No websites please. I want your own personal experiences. (someone you directly know is ok too)

Scrambled egg white mask works for me. Scramble one egg white until it's foamy/firm. Apply as you would any other mask. Let dry. When it starts to crack, rinse. Voila!

One that I have heard is that olive oil works best to condition your hair. I got that tip from a woman I work with from Ethiopia. She is also is in hair school too!

Vinegar in your hair. When you wash your hair, pour some vinegar on it. It will help to get allthe hairspray & other hair styling products, residue & buildup out. Avocadoes, are supposed to work wonders for the face too if you mash it up.

My Mom used mayonnaise on her hair for YEARS and every once in a while still does. The trick I guess, is after you slather on the mayo, you're supposed to put a hot towel over your head and leave it for about a half hour - either a wet hot towel (wet w/hot water) or a towel you put in the dryer for a while. It starts to smell though!!!

Here's one for ya - and supposedly it works (a 70+ year old woman told me this but I have not tried it) PreparationH on your undereye puffiness.....supposedly the same thing it does for hemmaroids (decrease swelling) it apparently does for your undereyes . . . .and I've read that models do it - - hmmmmm??????

I was told once to use dandruff shampoo rather than soap to help with dry skin. It actually helped.

I never put mayonaise in my hair for fizzyness and dryness, but have used afro-sheen type products and they work very well. I would put it in my hair and then wash it out with a mild shampoo. (I am white by the way.)

I too have heard the Olive oil works great as a deep conditioner with a heating cap!

this one may sound weird but I also heard that for a deep conditioning treatment to put Aunt Jemimas original syrup is supposed to be fantastic, massage into your hair-put a plastic grocery bag over your head and blow dry the cap-or just leave on for 30 minutes. sounds both messy and interesting,,

and for great younger looking skin,,
put phillips milk of magnesia on you face, let dry and rinse off--promotes younger fresh skin

I have done this several times, wash your hair with a can of beer. It leaves out the grease but makes it shine for days even after several washings.

The cucumber trick really works! It feels oh-so-good and refreshing. My husband also uses cuke slices on his eyes to get rid of the itchiness from pollen etc. My friend's grandmother used to use PreparationH under her eyes. She swore by it to shrink the "bags" a bit.
