My children gave me a gift certificate to a local department store to be used for all new makeup. I have never really known which colors are right for me, but just never had enough extra money to purchase "good makeup". My question is: I am 52, not particulary wrinkled, but certainly don't look 25. Does anyone know of any one particular brand of makeup that is better of mature ladies? I have heard that some companies cater to younger women and younger skin. I would love to go and use this gift certificate, but there are so many different brands at the store, that I just don't know which one to choose. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

my suggestion is to see if they have a makeup consultant. They would know best how to match colors with your skin tone and whatnot. They are very helpful. You might call and make an appointment or if you go at a slow time, they might have the time then. Just remember this. Whatever they use on you, you are not forced to buy. Purchase only what you like.

Personal Experiance: If it is a department store brand the 3 I have found to work the best for me are Clinique, Estee Lauder & Lancome.

I also found this site that may be useful if perhaps you don't want to deal with a consultant
who yes, can sometimes be pushy.

It talks about color schemes and how to pick the right foundation, powders and stuff.
