I posted this topic last month, but now it's more important since I've recently gone back to work and am a Manager so I feel appearances are very important.

I have very reddish skin. Can anyone recommend a makeup that won't sweat off (I can become very, very hot in my new job!) When I get hot, I become very, very red in the face!

As soon as my health insurance becomes active, I intend to go see if I have rosacea...in the meantime (2 months), however, any suggested makeup to help conceal this condition would be appreciated! smile

What I would do in your situation, first, is shop in a discount department store, such as Walmart, or any other that offers a wide selection of makeup. I have a full cosmetology license. Big-name makeup can cost a fortune and perform the same or even less than the inexpensive brands.

LOREAL has a line of cosmetics that, they say, stays in place all day: A lipstick called LipFinity and a foundation called FaceFinity. Be sure to read the package to ascertain the makeup's performance under conditions of heavy perspiration. (Check out Maybelline to see if they have all-day or waterproof makeup, too, ok?)

For the redness, look for a green, waterproof "Concealer" or "Cover Stick" in the store. (Green will cut down the red.)

Application:

1. Use a very light, non-oily moisturizer on your face under your foundation. After applying it, thin it out with water. (This will help to keep the makeup in place.)

2. Apply the "Concealer", sparingly, wherever your face is (or turns) red.

3. Apply your foundation as directed.

Tip: For more protection from perspiration, you can use a face powder over your makeup. Apply the powder, lightly. Dust off the excess. And then dab your face with a damp sponge. This will be a big help! big grin

If this doesn't work, I'll jump in a pile of fire ants. lol

If you want to go to the trouble, then yes, find a concealer in green because as Dorie mentions, green cuts the red (Lavendar cuts down olive tones). But you have to be skilled in applying this or you will end up looking sea sick!

May I just suggest that you try Revlon Color Stay Liquid Foundation...look for those with yellow undertones. They have GREAT coverage and stay on until you take it off. I live in the South where it is very humid and I can sweat just standing still outside. But the makeup never smears, runs, and looks freshly applied. They key is to set with some translucent powder AFTER the foundation has had time to dry on your face.

Also, Revlon makes color stay lip sticks which I like BETTER than Max Factor Lip Finity or Cover Girl Long Lasting.

Any more question just give me a yell - I'm a make-up affecienado!

Thanks for the suggestions! When I get some time I'll spend some of it in the cosmetics aisle & look for what you suggest.

Don't use lipstick so at least that's one less thing to look for! big grin

I use Estee Lauder Idealist Skin Refinisher and then Light Source Moisture Lotion. I put this on before foundation and it works great. smile

You may also want to investigate Dermablend foundation. It's made to cover various kinds of blemishes, scars, birthmarks, and also rosacea.
dermablend website
On their site, they have a "store locator" so you'll know where to find it.

If you do end up being diagnosed with rosacea by a dermatologist, I think your options are topical creams, like MetroGel, or laser treatments (PhotoFacial).

Earlier this year, I looked at several sites about rosacea...I'll try to find the best ones and post them here for you.

P.S. I think we are to refer to the AnswerPool Gift Shoppe whenever possible, so just wanted to tell you I found Dermablend cosmetics available at the Gift Shoppe>Health & Beauty>Cosmetics & Fragrances>CosmeticMall.com.

Here are the rosacea links I said I would post:
http://rosacea.ii.net/
http://aolsvc.health.webmd.aol.com/content/article/1689.51068
http://www.about-rosacea.com/
http://www.rosacea.org

http://medicalreporter.health.org/tmr0596/rosacea.html
http://www.cosmetixlaser.com/PhotoFacial.htm
http://www.rosacea-control.com/html/pre.html
http://dmoz.org/Health/Conditions_and_Diseases/Skin_Disorders/Rosacea/
http://www.dermatologist-rx.com/news.htm

Those are just a "few" of the many sites you can find about rosacea, by doing Internet searches. There are many support groups online and sites with information about treatments, such as topical treatments (http://www.metrogel.com) and laser treatments (PhotoDerm, PhotoFacial, and EpiFacial).
