Okay, Guru, what sort of makeup would you recommend for me? I have blue eyes, dark red hair, and a very fair complection. (Note: I love the dramatic look Smile)

Wow - my first personal request! Why, I'm gonna paint my door red and change my name to Elizabeth Arden! LOL

Kalena, I love the dramatic look to. My motto is, put on makeup, look in the mirror, then put a little bit more on!

You're coloring sounds great. You have dark red hair and a fair complection. Do you have freckles? See, freckles and I don't get along so I believe in covering them up as much as possible. And since you want the dramatic look, somehow freckles doesn't seem to go with! So, I'd start out with a good foundation for coverage.

Blue eyes carry off the smokey look the best. I'd pick out a dark gray or a charcoal shadow and liner to use. For the smokey look apply the dark shadow to the lid, and you can even apply a darker color in the crease. Highlight under the brow with a light shadow, prob a soft beige for you. Line around your eyes with a soft pencil that matches your shadow and then set the pencil line with a layer of shadow.

Smokey eyes should be matched with softer lips. If you go heavy with a dark lipstick it tends to be a bit overwhelming. If you did want a dark lipstick a deep frosted Rust would look great. Actually there is a color called Crush Velvet by Maybelline that would work for you. But with the smokey eyes I suggest a nude lipstick with a gloss over it. And then don't forget a brown based blush to give you contours!

Well, hoped this helped out a bit. Let me know if you have any further questions!

Thanks, Geo! (i'm going to continue to call you Geo, cuz i think it sound cool. Hope you don't mind)
You must be psychic, cuz i started using the smokey look not that long ago after i saw it in a magazine i quite like. Anyway, as for the lipstick, i don't generally wear lipstick, just a clear gloss. and i don't like blush, but thank you sooo much. I was thinking of trying a dark purple for the smokey look. I currently use a dark blue. And no, i don't have freckles. I only get freckles in the summer if i spend too much time outside.

You can call me Geo all you like! Most just call write GA since that is the abbreviation for the state of Georgia...which also happens to be my name. But Geo is cool too.

Glad I could help. Smoky purple is pretty too, esp if you line with a black pencil! I have done that before.

I already line my eyes with black liner. I find that it makes my pretty blue eyes look brighter and bluer. And if the "Makeup Guru" recommends smokey purple, then i think i'm gonna have to give it a test drive. Wink

Drive Away! Just make sure the purple you choose has deep blue undertones and not red undertones. Look for a Deep Royal purple versus a "electric" purple.

Okay Georgia, you've seen my picture. I don't want the dramatic look, I like it light (I normally don't wear make up at all) but I have a few things coming up and would like to look really pretty, so what, Miss Guru, do you suggest? Smile

Thanks Smile

I'm honored Puppy that you are entrusting me with your makeup challenges. Well, here goes...

Since I don't know if your upcoming events are day or evening events I'll just give you a natural look that you can add to should you need a more dramatic look.

I suggest a soft peach color for your eye-lids and perhaps add a light touch of a soft brown in the crease, carrying from the outside corner of your eyes back to the crease. I'd also line the eyes with the same light brown shade as used in the crease. Curl your lashes and add a coat of black mascara.

Blush I'd use just a hint of a coral in the apples of your cheeks and for lips try Revlon Mirrored Mocha LipGlide color gloss which is a nice frosted brown but not too dark.

So, what do you think of those suggestions?

Actually I'd love you to try a burnt russet shadow! I think that would look great with your coloring...but you might find it a bit bold for you.

Interesting...perhaps your color choice was in the same color line as the blue you use. There are so many different purples to chose from...from rich royal to fuschia purples. Este Lauder has a lovely almost slate gray purple which when used with a soft pink color really brings out your eyes. But hey, at least you didn't say that you hated it! LOL
