My older sister--32--is having her first baby in May. I have two kids already and have gotten consistent giggles listening to her "parenting" advice (parenting advice from a non-parent who doesn't even baby sit is funny!).

Anyway, I want to put together a New Born Survival Kit for her that has everything she's going to need for the first 6 months, save clothing and furniture. This is because I know we read everything possible on new borns, and still found ourselves at 3 am needing something desperately and having no way to get it.

The list I've made up is quite long so I'm not going to type it in here. I'd just everyone with children to please post anything you think is a bit unexpected that you found yourself needing with your newborns, and if I haven't listed it already I'll add it. Cost is not a problem.

Thanks guys!

nailclippers, those little bulbsyringe snot-remover thingies, and diaper rash cream. Infant tylenol is a must, and I always wished I'd had one of those tympanic thermometers.

A few cans of pre made formula just in case!

You just NEVER know when you are going to be out somewhere and the baby is out of formula and you are in trouble because you are out!

Thanks guys! I don't think, with her being an RN, I could convince her to take the Valium...though when I had my kids newly home, I wanted like speed rather than a downer!!

A few of these I'd forgotten, and they're on the list!
