Cleveland had a secret operation on board a ship to remove a growth from his throat, and was fitted with a rubber appliance to replace the excised area. The public didn't know about this until about 1917. See the Internet Public Library and search for potus to see more about all the presidents.
I should add here that about half of the US Presidents are distant cousins, since about half descended from one of your Edwards.
