What convicted felon was given free air time by NBC, CBS, and ABC to declare his innocence in 1973?

Hi Dorian!

Two educated but unsubtantiated guesses:

G. Gordon Liddy OR James W. McCord Jr?

They were both convicted in January of 1973 and I think both testified later that year during the nationally televised congressional hearings......

Am I even close?

Loosely taken, the question could be construed that way. But think of the free air time as really free for that specific individual, not as a part of anything else. And yes, you are in the "Yard."

By the way, WELCOME !

Hey, I just saw...St. Charles! Did you play Trivia Saturday night? I was in Chesterfield at the Elks. $500 first prize. We took 2nd. $0 Second prize.

Heya! Yep, we played at the Presbeterian church near Belk Park in Wood River. We took first prize ($200) - but it was a hard fought victory.

We won with 43 out of a possible 100. There were only 51 questions - 7 rounds of 7 questions each (1-6 worth one point, 7 worth 4 points) and the last "bonus" round of two questions worth 15 points each.

It was the first contest that this group had put on. Our input was that the odd question weighting was very weird.....
