When Saddam Hussein is finally led to the gallows this weekend, he will be given a simple red card.
What is on this card and why is its presentation to him ironic?

Hi..just wanted to bring this question back to the forum Dorian while its still relevant..as far as I know..this procedure was carried out on Saddams execution yesterday.

The red card is an execution order, or notice of impending death, ironically introduced during Hussein's reign. I suppose red cards were presented to the victims of the crime for which he was convicted?

Seems the card is handed to the person about to be executed..basically telling them their life is over. As you said it is an ironic fact of this case, because Saddam introduced the cards. See this link
