Namely, whether to choose Seville or Venice for a five-day stay (leaving from Paris) in the middle of November? We haven't been to either yet, though have already travelled a bit in Spain and Italy.
I have to say that, in the end, we opted for Seville and so the problem's rather hypothetical; but has anyone been to either city at this particular time of year? And now that Seville is definite, what should we look out for - assuming we've already read the guidebooks?

Well, it seems no one here has ever "done" Venice or Seville in mid-November! We leave on Friday. The temperature there today is predicted to rise to 23 degrees Celsius (that's 73° Fahrenneit), whereas today in Paris, the thermometer's supposed to be set to rise to 6° or 44° Fahrenheit)!
Seville is touted as the city where Flamenco dancing made its name and the one with the best tapas. Sounds good to me, but then, so does Venice...

I would sincerely love to visit Venice someday, and it is in our future plans, along with Greece, Egypt, Australia, and on, and on and on...

Would have helped, Colin,but I've never been to Venice in November. A guidebook I have says that Venice is liable to flooding in November (yes, flooding). I didn't fancy going: imagine what it must be like if the streets are under water

Many thanks to you both, gizmogram and Fred, for responding. Seville turned out to be a fine, fine choice for a November getaway, and the temperature on Sunday (November the 18th) was 23 degrees centigrade as predicted. Eat your heart out Paris.
Sadly, our first-choice flamenco venue was closed for two weeks while we were there, but a little research unearthed an alternative gem in the Santa Cruz area, probably the highlight of our stay. The dance and the atmosphere were memorable.
The tapas bars came a close second, mind, though you do need to know your way around. Rudimentary Spanish helps lots, and a smile and curiosity as to what's on offer is a big plus. We ate so very well.
A fine city, lots to do, much to see, and though the Alcazar, truth to tell, was disappointing, we did have "otras cosas" that more than compensated. Go!
