I've just read a newspaper piece about New York in the summertime, written by Garrison Keillor. In it, he describes a visit to Central Park, New York, one evening at 11 p.m., where he says he spent an enjoyable half hour or so, seeing a couple of joggers, one or two people strolling by, a couple necking in the shadows, and so on, while bemoaning the fact that New York nowadays has turned away from the Park during its hours of darkness due to the perceived threat of danger, which he claims is rather exaggerated. Never having been to Central Park but having heard all the warnings, is Garrison right?
