To all our American cousins, should you ever wish to visit the UK please include Scotland in your trip. We have just returned from a week there, having taken several holidays in that country over the years. The only downside can be the weather, as sunshine can never be guaranteed, and heavy rain has to be expected. Having said that, I got sunburned in Scotland last week (I know, I know, terribly dangerous!) whilst England was being lashed by torrential rain (I bet you got wet, Blam, if not on the outside then definitely on the inside!) Lovely people offering great hospitality, crystal clear air & waters, magnificent lochs, islands by the hundred and soaring mountains, stately homes and castles, and well-maintained, deserted roads around twisting coastlines of sea and lakes...many wild birds including the golden eagle, osprey, cormorant, etc. Spectacular sunsets, fine food very reasonably priced…and the scotch is excellent, too! Try this for starters, where we spent a memorable day…
