I don't think they would schedule a tour if there is a typical risk of lots of snowfall. The East Coast can get extra stuff because of its proximity to the water, but they are also used to it and are prepared to handle it. I wouldn't worry. Just be sure to have a warm coat, scarf, hat, gloves, plenty of socks and good boots. But bring your sunglasses, too, because these days you just never know. You could also check The Old Farmer's Almanac for their predictions on the coming months.

Too right! The answer, whether it be London or Maine, is that the community provides for what it is accustomed to.If there's freak weather in Maine there's a problem looming.Try flying to Tromso, Norway, from London Stansted Airport in Winter. At Stansted it begins to sleet and the plane is delayed in take off by about an hour on account of a few millimetres of snow. At Tromso (200 miles inside the Arctic Circle and home to the world's northernmost Burger King ) the runways have about 4 metres of snow alongside. Will you be delayed in landing? No. Delayed in take off? No So a tiny airport in the Arctic Circle has no problem but our international one has, until it gets the equipment up and running But Tromso is like that every year (from about October 30th for six months, probably ) whereas it rarely snows at all at Stansted. Of course, in Summer here we aren't ready for more than a week of 28C plus (83F plus) but that's another story

Hi, Me again reporting back on the New England trip.Elexina and FredPauli, you were right in saying that although there would be much snow,(there was),the roads were fully open, even the minor ones.In Kennebunkport Maine,it was like a Christmas card scene, what a lovely town. The shopkeepers said its the best time of the year to visit,as in summer, you would be unable to move, because of crowds. The members of our coach party were virtually the only ones in the streets.Boston was magical, but very cold, stayed too long in the warmth of Quincy Market. The only blot on the holiday was British Airways, but thats another story.
