Croxteth is all right, Bedstor. So what if, years ago, there were riots there and a few houses got burnt down? I stayed in Croxteth once, a couple of years ago, and a cab driver advised me against walking in the area late at night.Nonsense !(Me, walk anywhere?

) Seriously, the area has been much improved. There's a park with quite a good hotel, formerly the home of some C19 shipowner, on the edge of it.Arriving at Liverpool Airport on the flight from Nice, some posh Cheshire lady asked where I was staying, expecting some answer like The Adelphi Hotel (that greatly overrated, faded pile), and she nearly fainted when I told her

She must have thought I was some eccentric social worker.
Haydock must be good.Anywhere with a racecourse is fine by me ! St Helens would do too but unfortunately I don't follow Rugby League Football and also one glassworks is much like any other.
East Anglia has : Newmarket (two racecourses, hurrah!)
The Upturned Sow (King's College Chapel)
Clacton-on-Sea (Has a pier, candyfloss, 'Amusements' and is now improved by Butlin's Holiday Camp being closed)
The Norfolk Broads
Norwich (Mustard Museum)
Wandlebury (tomb of the Godolphin Arabian, founding sire of all thoroughbred racehorses)
Cowley Road Sewage Works, Cambridge (not licensed for weddings, though one couple did try)
and many other delights !
