Often in many download website, they have shareware to download. The program often expires after 30 days!

Just curious, in setup, where do the file installed in the computer that helps keep track the time of expiration? And, what type of file is it?

Someone tell me the file hides in the computer somewhere.

Their is a program variable that is set to the download date, and another that is set to the downlad date + 30...

The program itself contains a conditional statement that checks "todays date" in your system files and compares it to the variable date+30

Something like...

if(todays date)
is less than date+30
execute program

or else..

quit

So.. there's no "file" outside of the binary files of the program you downloaded.

If it's a REALLY primitive code, you can change the date in your system and "fool" the program; but any decent programmer will have programmed around this trick.

If you're trying to start a program after the trial period - you're probably out of luck.

There are just as many freeware programs as there are shareware progs. Instead of cracking the trial, just sift through www.tucows.com or www.nonags.com and see if you can find some good freeware alternatives.
