I have just installed Googles excellent Desktop search.

and would like to offer some small tips
1) Be prepared to take quite a long while waiting for it to compile the database (maybe a day or so?)

...It may help if you disable Screensavers?

1a) If you get an
Error 580 showing It may mean it has crashed? Either through you trying it out too early or something else? Guess what I did? (too impatient LOL!)

Only way to get it running right again is to uninstall (also Not use the saved database) and start from the beginning again sry.

I saved the program to a folder and install from there (only about 750K)so I always have a backup if it goes wrong

2) If you have Crap Cleaner Installed or any other File Cleaner. Go into the Preferences and untick those Items like Temp files and History Files which the Desktop programs use to display. Otherwise I doubt you'll be seeing much If you do regular clearances?

3) Go into Internet Explorer (Security tab)>Local Intranet and check the settings (Custom button) change all the prompts to
enable bar the Unsigned ActiveX files which are set to
disable (setting on the menu bar at the bottom of the list is "Medium-Low")

I'm surprised they haven't marketed this as an Offline Favorites file viewer which is a million times easier to setup and use than the original "view Favorites offline" concept
