Which messenger service do you think is the safest, and why?

I used to use msn messenger, or yahoo, but deleted them years ago, are they any better now?

I prefer basic Yahoo.

To me, yahoo does have a slight edge over MSN.

I don't know if there is any messenger service that is truely safe. If someone knows what to do, they can hack into your computer when you are online. I've been on Yahoo and had someone "knock me off" just to prove to me that it could be done. But yet I still prefer Yahoo over any other I have used.
