This web page is a Head to Head review of 14 Popular browser toolbars (with Installation links)entitled...14 Popular Browser Toolbars Reviewed - The Worthwhile and the Worthless dated 10 months ago

The Author is looking to see which is the most useful for the Professional and which is better suited to the average user = Us, also those who appeal to both.

I like the screenshot at the end of the article where several of the toolbars are displayed together.Mr Undecideds Internet Bxplorer? I bet any money his Online Homepage is Blank?
www.seomoz.org/img/upload/too-many-toolbars.gif

And the best Practical Toolbar for Internet Explorer is AOL's(!) http://toolbar.aol.com/
(Just 2 Mb) Which has the best thought out button (link) selection.Only thing that lets it down is the "Favorites Link" which I found difficult Frown
What you first see after installation it looks rather spartan/bareboned in appearance Frown
No clue as to what it can do. the Weather and Gas prices buttons will Probably go Stateside for information. The "Find Related Content"
A let down? I like the Surfometer which records how many times IE has been looked at on and offline.Am up to 12k Clicks just in just 6 weeks! When you click on it when Connected it will give you a rating for the number of clicks.
At the far right there is the AOL Sign in Button (Not needed!) the other AOL Member features where needed to be signed in have their own sign in points on the page.
But where are the Features?
Go back to the Sign in Button and between that and the Surfometer there is a blue "Cog"
icon (Like the tools icon of IE)

Click it!
A Menu...
The top item Customize (sic) My AOL Toolbar Leads to the Options menu
The layout of this area is in Plain English with no misleading tickbox links
If you get in a Muddle then there is a Reset button in the Help section(bottom of Menu)
BTW Somehow I got the US Version Version: 5.13.4.1 (en-US) Hence the "Customize" Link But its a no brainer to workaround ,and make it look like it comes from the UK
Which leads to the 2nd link down "Add more Buttons" which is also found at the foot of the "Customize my Toolbar" Window
You must be online for the Next step you are taken to http://tinyurl.com/AOLToolbarbuttonselect where you can Peruse the Big selection of Buttons Do not to be a member for Most of them Unless you want to use the AIM.But the good news is it's Not Premium Items. Ditto with AOLMail. You can register for free for an AOL screen name Which like Google Mail gives you access to almost all areas (Paid up members get 5 names)
As for making the Page look like Home, Find the AOL International Buttons selection and add the UK button (or wherever you live)
Best Button of the lot? Look for the Speaker with Listen Now in the Radio section (very last button)...Would you agree?

NOTE: There are AOL Toolbar links Hidden on some Setups(but frankly a let down)
To access these click on a blank part of the Toolbar and on the Menu Click on the AOL toolbar link (the 2nd one) and 3 buttons will appear under the other AOL Bar

They lead to an offline settings page (with no access to the Custom Buttons area)or the AOL Homepage(If online). Button 2 opens the AOL Webmail page and the 3rd Button is the Popup-stopper button. Settings are better on the other menu (Pop-ups tab)
and Note that the tick boxes populate the Lower Tool bar So there are several Duplicates
(But no International Buttons ) What you see here is all you'll get
So my advice is, ignore that this exists and keep the "Carousel" AOL Toolbar for everything Smile
