Important News Heads up On Tuesday November 2nd Microsoft are sending a brand New version of Internet Explorer (IE 7.0) out to everyone with Windows XP on the Windows Update service
Be aware its going to take about 10 minutes to download(on Broadband) and you may have to make some adjustments to it such as setting the Homepage back to where you had it (probably be set as MSN)? Also alter the security settings slightly. Stop things like pop-ups and allow/block some sites www.spywareblaster.com has a free program that does set up the Internet Explorer Blocked sites list and blocks a lot of things getting through Unknown if this has been optimised for this new program yet?(nothing on their forums)
I'm learning about this too as I'm going along.
Only issue so far is Microsoft Outlook(email program) is having problems working with the AOL browser. It may be fixed in a patch later?) Otherwise its stable.
My advice? Use a different email service until MS Outlook is given the Green light
If you are running any other Versions of Windows such as 98,ME, Win 2000... Microsoft are continuing to support IE 6.0 for a while longer .No end date seen yet.
PS Another Program of Microsofts Windows Defender has a Brand new version out This scans your computer for Spyware and other pests (works very well ) Download it from here only 4MB www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx 1 minute to download, and 2 minutes to install(have to go off line ) Update details are on this page too, click on the link (where I've highlighted on the webpage) to start the update if you already have it Windows Defender (Beta 2) expires December 31 Don’t go a moment unprotected: Upgrade now to the final release of Windows Defender.
Runs itself ,and updates itself (an "install and forget program") This is also an XP only program If you don't get the downloads I have some other places where you can get them Send us an email(or post here) if this happens Ps www.webuser.co.uk/forum has started a new forum dedicated to IE 7.0 (As a " Hot Topic" ) in the last few days there'll be some hints and tips posted there as more people get used to it

I had no choice but to install Explorer 7.0 today (10-27-06). After I did I had spyware infection. I ran "Ad-Aware SE" ( from Lavasoft) and everything came back to normal.

I suspect it was a false positive you had mozart, and Ad-Aware has restored the balance Have you updated Ad-Aware to Reference Number : SE1R129 26.10.2006 Internal build : 161
Be aware also the AVG anti Virus software program has a major version update Download is available here www.filehippo.com/download_avg_antivirus/ Overwrites the old version And DO a Manual update after installation Otherwise the database is blank!
And B) The automatic updates I think will not work without this in place

I did the update to IE 7.0 and It went well All security settings carried over.
Only thing I did was to remove the Language Icon from the taskbar and I did also note that I had to reenable the Broadband Connection to "never dial a connection" it had been set as Dial-up And AOL users, you may get your "Welcome" page displaying in a long scrolling window To rectify this just close it then reopen it to display as before
PS Only things worth doing on the Welcome page is to turn on the Phishing filter and confirming the Homepage scroll down to click on the Save Changes button
