$20 a cartridge is a pretty good deal, are they the cartridges or the refill kits, because I don't think the refill kits work, just make a mess. I never tried them but that's what I heard.

soaringhorse they are cartridges at ebay. I tried refill kits before and your right they do make a mess. I can never get the cartridges to print right after refilling them.
ivnj I don't have a Costco near by me and all I want at the moment is color ink.

The great thing about buying recycled/remanufactured cartirdges is that you are helping the environment! (Each one of those buggers takes 1000 years to decompose) I myself use remanufactured cartridges and so far I have been very pleased.
After you get your new cartridge, stop by OfficeMax or a Kmart (and a few other places) and pick up a prepaid ink cartridge mailer. Just slip the old one in and place it in your mailbox.

jwooden, so if I get one of these prepaid mailer, and put in my two cartridges from my lexmark Z42, how much do you think it will cost for them to ship it back?
PaceAce Here's one talking about money orders, if you go to the lexmark section they have yours but I only found the color one. Takes money orders
soaringhorse thanks for that site. I think that is where I'll get my ink unless I see it cheaper on ebay or if somebody else knows somewhere else that I can get it cheaper.
jwooden, I have a Office Max near me and I may try to recycle my old cartridges.

Well, the prepaid mailers (from Kmart & OfficeMax) are for disposing of your cartridges in an environmentally friendly manner. You don't get your cartridges back, they will be remanufactured and resold. (That's why it's free)
If you want your cartridges refilled and returned, you can order a "jetpak" for $17 or $46 for three. Just use the provided prepaid mailer(s) and within 10-15 days the cartridges will be returned refilled. (Qualifying cartridges only) See: http://tinyurl.com/i89g
I hope this was helpful

I've used the refill kits too for my Lexmark Z11, and if I'm careful, I get it refilled with only a few small stains. I have sprayed myself thoroughly before too though. LOL I can usually refill my cartridges 2 or 3 times before they become unusable.

I CAN ONLY SAY "BUYER BEWARE"!! I know of as many horror stories as success stories when refill or buying off brand/no name cartridges. Sooner or later, you will ruin your printer

Well, if you ruin your printer, then just buy a new one! They cost nearly the same as two ink cartidges anyway!
On that thought... Rather than simply buying new ink cartridges at all, why not just buy a whole new printer every 90 days? It costs ($50) the same or less than buying both Black & Color genuine cartridges (~$30 each).
If it ever breaks, just call the manufacturer and they will fix it, becuase it is covered by the warranty. (It is a new printer after all) Once it's out of ink, just chuck it into the trash!
So, you get (1) a new printer (2) two new ink cartridges and (3) a never-ending warranty - all for $50 every 90 days.
