Hi Sarah
Try this You haven't posted what Operating system You are using (I'm on XP)But the layout is similar to 98 You'll have to use some guesswork to access these settings

But they are in the same area OK?
Right click on the volume icon by the clock select
Adjust Audio Properties or
Audio Properties In the next window click on the Volume tab
and check the Device Volume slider is pulled all the way to the right and B) In "Speaker settings" (below this) press the "Speaker Volume" button and advance the sliders both to maximum ( then press Apply then OK to save and close the window
Return to Volume tab page and this time press the Advanced button in Speaker Settings
Locate the Menu which says something like Speaker setup check that it is set to
Desktop Stereo Speakers This is a good starting point. Many other settings to try but for your machine setup this is the best

Note: The page layout between computers can be different if a soundcard is fitted

(inserts a customised version of the page (but check for the basic settings)
Finally check the Performance Tab (same page)
Both tabs on the next page should be at the maximum settings
If you have moved either the Menu to a New setting or the sliders Press Apply then the OK buttons to save and exit this page otherwise press OK to exit
Now open the Volume controls again Make sure the Master Volume is Full Volume (this is the slider on the Left)
There is the slight chance that this is absent

This is perhaps what has happened to your machine

To restore it.click on Options>Properties and in the Next window Tick all the boxes you require to view (Press OK to set)
Do Full volume on CD Player and Video while you are there, and untick
all the mute boxes
Now, does that make any difference? And
DO turn your speaker volume right down before testing this out.

If no joy we'll try something else
