I’d start your assignment by pointing out that there are three types of logo/trademark infringement. Intentional, accidental and joke. We see the last one a lot in comedy TV shows, children’s comic books and the like where there is no intention to mislead. But the other two are different. Obviously, and this is your problem, you can’t go out and search for examples via Google or Yahoo or whatever. So instead, try looking at sites such as the International Standardisation Organization or the World Intellectual Property Organization, which may have a few pointers. Commercial sites such as Reuters carry examples of “wrong” logos and this may also give you a start. Another good bet though is to browse through your junk mail, purportedly coming from PayPal or from one of your banks or credit card companies and to pint to the lack of an “s” after “http” and such things. Clearly, I do not know who the assignment is for or at what level you’re writing it for, but I hope these remarks aren’t too facile. Good luck.
