Okay, I got my web page up. Now I can't figure out why a certain link won't work. It's just a hyperlink for this site:BJCreations . It's funny but I already have one with a magic button, but when I try to do the next link it accesses the magic button link. By the way, I figured out that you don't have to use Netscape for your web page, Internet Explore does the same thing. Just read instructions on Pagetutor.com to do your webpage.

Change this line of code:

<center><font size="6" color=#6699FF face="Eurostile"><I>BJ Creations<a href="http://bjcreations.com/"></I></font></a>

To this line of code:

<center><A HREF="http://bjcreations.com/"target="_new" ><font size="6" color=#6699FF face="Eurostile"><I>BJ Creations</a> </I> </font>

Hi SoaringHorse:
Great start on your webpage !
You & Sonnet will be putting Billy G.
out of business in no time. Big Grin

One suggestion, if I may.
Anywhere you are using the "color=#000070" for your font color should probably be changed to something brighter.
On my machine I can't even see the text that has that dark of blue on the black background.

Just in case the edit message shows up.

Yep, Dwight, I changed it to your code and it works great, thank you very much! Byter, you are correct, some monitors show up dark on my colors, I was using the libraries the other day and noticed it, so I went to a different background and font. Now if I can only figure out where to get some music to load on there, and how. I've found that when you view source on the properties of any page on the internet, you can see how they do things, pretty cool! Cool
PS For instance KK must really be good! Have you ever checked out the view source on the answerpool? Wow! Eek

You can use this code for midi music:

<bgsound loop="1" src="http://home.fuse.net/soaringhorse/soundsof.mid">
</bgsound>

Put this code in the head section of your page.

Click here to download the sounds of silence .mid file.

Save the soundsof.mid file to your web folder (as you normally do).

Of course you can download any music file, just change the filename and file extension as necessary.

Note: the code
loop="1"
means it will play through once. You can put in any number you like, or put in:
"loop="infinite"
to have it play continuously.

Question: is http://bjcreations.com your actual website or something you're trying to link to?

If that's not your site, what's your URL? Who did you find to host it with?

Cheers!

For the good of the Internet, never, ever, use the bgsound property of the background tag.

A) It's annoying.
B) It's not XHTML compliant.
C) It's really annoying.
D) Unnecessary bandwidth usage.

http://www.w3c.org/ offers the white-sheet for the most common DTDs used these days.

As a forethought, tables are to be used for the format of tabular data. They are not to be used for layout! Not only does it not conform to the w3c specs, it adds extra overhead to pages and slows down what could be quickly and more efficiently rendered by the user's browser with CSS.

I could go on forever...

Oh, also:

font size="6" color=#6699FF face="Eurostile">

Be careful about using non-standard fonts like "Eurostile". If the font specified doesn't exist on the user's system, it uses the default (usually Times New Roman).

Chris, thanks for pointing this out, I was wondering why my index.html had changed fonts without me changing it. So I did change my "Eurostile" to "Arial". Appreciate the advice!

Are you saying that background music is not a good idea? If so, what do you suggest?

Background music is never a good idea except in some instances where a Macromedia Flash interface is being presented to the user. Even then, the user must have a clear option to Mute the sound.

I would suggest no music/sound at all.

And feel free to ask any web development questions. I'm proficient in (X)HTML, PHP, Perl, Python and MySQL.
