I have an Acer Aspire 3620 laptop that is only a few months old, and every time I turn it on, the following things happen:

- A program called "LaunchApp v1.010 emPowering Framework" starts loading and eventually freezes everything up.

- A program called "InstallShield Acer Empowering Technology Framework" starts loading, and it also freezes everything after a few minutes of trying to load.

Do I need these things to load and if not, how do I get rid of them? I've tried searching for the files, and the LaunchApp one comes up, but when I go to delete it is says that doing so may make some programs not work. Please help me get rid of these things so they don't slow down my laptop anymore. Thanks!

Have you looked for thses programs in the Add/Remove program list in your Control Panel? If they are listed, uninstall them, the Acer program is most likely something similar to Backweb, which HP puts on their computers, and you dont need anyway. If need be, you can call Acer support, or go to the website, and send them an email detailing the problem, and see what they say to do.

Start
Run
Type: msconfig
Click OK

Look in the startup folder for any file that is similar to these two. If you find it, uncheck it.

Also, look in the Services section and use the "Hide all Microsoft services" option. See this picture.
