According to some sources allocated IP addresses under the current Numbering scheme will be in short supply in a few years (c2010 or 2011)
You see the website page name but they have been allocated a ID random number too for the servers to post it
These range from 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255
giving 4 billion combinations (
IPv4)
So What happens...Answer the servers are switched over to a new address protocol and the New numbers will be listed under
IPv6 The new numbering system looks like this 0000.0000.0000.0000.0000.0000.0000.0000

And the maths people saying it will come to Get this for a total...
340 trillon,trillion trillion
Has better background info on this subjectNow if you have Vista the protocol is already set up...No worries
But XP has it but not switched on

Perhaps M$ will switch it on later(in a patch!)

But Lets Jump the Gun and switch it on Now

And you can update your other XP computers too
It will take all of 10 to 15 seconds TOPS to switch it on and resume what you are doing
Open the Control Panel>Network connections
Right click on either of the Local Area Connections > click Properties
On the list the last item is called
Internet Prococol (TCP/IP) Yes? Thats the control for web addresses
quote:
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol. The default wide area network protocol that provides that provide communication across diverse Interconnected Networks
Now scroll upwards there is no other item with TCP/IP Listed? If yes it should be ticked
If you see nothing this next bit is faster than sleight of hand
Click the Install button beneath the list then "Protocol" on the Next screen Then select the driver called
Microsoft TCP/IP version 6 press the OK button finished! Is set up and ready for use!

The Blurb for that Item says simply:
quote:
TCP/IP version 6, The next-generation version of the Internet protocol that provides that provide communication across diverse Interconnected Networks
