I manually updated Google Chrome on the "About" link and I recieved Version 2.0.172.28 Can not see any difference(or change) and It has not Crashed or glitched in an Hour of use (surfing normally) You can now Update without fear of it leaving you in an awkward situation PS The Program will automatically Update to this version if the Manual update Has not Been made within a certain time
Oh and It is Out of BETA! The tag is gone It says on the Changes log just this:
quote:
Promoting 2.0.172 from Beta to the Stable.

I and several people noted www.Filehippo.com has not posted the Update (Usually very Prompt!)

i see Google Chrome mentioned several times on this forum & curious if it's really that great and worth me trying out.
read a couple reviews & the Chrome feature list; seems a few things are missing, but not sure.
i've been using Firefox for years & really like most of the features...especially the download manager, addons (AdBlock, Personas themes/theme creator, Java quick start, McAfee Site Advisor, etc.) & plugins (the only one that doesn't work is my HP printer plugin, but i don't really need it).
the only thing that could be better is Firefox's handling of bookmarks...IE still does the best job with bookmarks, but that's all it does so i don't use it unless Microsoft forces me to.
so, worth trying or wait until Chrome gets closer to what Firefox has had for years?
thanks, cake

cake The Only way is to Keep Monitoring the Changes posted on Filehippo They keep slipping New features in And its being done in Public view as Chrome is "Open sourced" software There is a Blog on the Project somewhere local to the Chrome URL which I Imagine has a forum too I Know this as there was a Lively Debate over a server bug on Google Maps (Was situated in Google Groups)
Further information Chrome may used Like Internet Explorer as a Primary Browser in Windows 7, Firefox too ,Hence the activity on Version 4.0 though there is no clue how it will handle the security functions of IE7 or 8 such as the restricted site list (Topped up by SpywareBlaster monthly) I have Windows 7 on order, and I will be using the same arrangement as now. IE 8.0 (main Browser)With Chrome as an alternative
As to giving it a Go By all means Do Has lots of neat trick items and the Layout is very Minimal to what features other browser Have to lug about You don't like it Then it'll delete easy with No leftovers

...actually a decent browser. here are my experiences, so far (compared to Firefox as i refuse to use IE unless forced):
pros:
minimal format decent set of themes (found one i liked) no extra search toolbar (both Firefox & IE force you to include one) decent bookmark manager
cons:
no real download manager (Firefox shows item, start/stop/pause, open/close manager (addon to keep out of the way), delete/auto save individual items when complete, download speed, time & size elapsed/remaining). minimal safety features (both Firefox & IE incorporate my McAfee SiteAdvisor); possibly able to have more if i signed into my account, but rarely use it. minimal cookie/history delete options. HUGE footprint (104mb compared to Firefox 42.4mb WITH all my addons/plugins).
down the road, after major input from users, Chrome could give Firefox a run for their money but not until it has the incredible functionality that Firefox has had for years & they reduce that large footprint.
i'll probably save Chrome for Answerpool, and continue to use it to see where it goes.
