There is supposed to be a big batch of update patches (13?) due for download off Microsoft today(February 8th) Yet the auto update has not worked, and the MS Update page is showing an error message 0x800B0001 and
quote:
Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page.

Anybody have any better luck than me?

Me? I'm still seeing that message Frown
Will try again later. Perhaps I keep accessing a poor server link by luck ? Roll Eyes

I'm now off line totally
The culprit of this fault is a combination of the firewall,Broadband network settings Confused
And I have had to do a system restore which I found out Does not work with programs Frown running in the area by the clock(have to shut down everything as if you are doing a defrag)
Might be back later on?(depending on "luck" Wink)

Went down again though I thought all sorts of thing
I have posted on this UK forum with all the links
The first failure was due to the Birmingham main server(100 miles away) going Down on the day I first posted this topic, then the Manchester Main Server on Friday(Local area 35 miles away) Seems there is an overlap of coverage areas but NO emergency Plan Confused
So I never had a fault on my machine in the first place. Confused It was the servers to blame! Frown And the 2nd time there was people all over the UK with their BB off-line Eek Dial-up was unaffected.
