I really have to get rid of this ralf chat. It's from 1997 and it is just sooooooo slow.

Does anyone know of a good chatroom out there? I need one that I can load on the server. I would like to add smilies.

x-7 chat is ok but you can't add the smilies.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think I might just delete everything on the server and start new. Get a new chat and a fresh start. I'm using the first version of this: ralfchat.

Ever consider switching to an IRC-based chat room? You'd get near-instant message delivery and depending on client (mIRC, Chatzilla, Opera), smilies. This may be an option if you have a dedicated server, or know the persons running your host.

As for your current browser-refresh chat system, you likely aren't going to find much better. You may find something that uses AJAX to speed up transmissions (a la Gmail chat) but those are less common.

I actually have an XChat that comes with my server. I think it's still there. I really need to so something. I think I'm gonna have to give up the personal smilies with the XChat. It is either chat in a slow room with personal smilies or be able to chat with just the basics. I'm not sure what to do.
