When a spill occurs, quick thinking can often save your laptop from doom. The cost of having someone else deep clean or replace the mobo is often more than the cost of simply replacing the entire laptop. (Especially at a big box store) Also, most warrantees DO NOT cover damage from drops or spills. (If your laptop has a 1yr warranty, try calling customer service anyway) If you are handy with a screwdriver, it may be possible to do a DIY repair. (Under $5) Basically, disassemble the laptop and gently clean the components with rubbing alcohol. (Except hard drive & optical drives) Allow the components a few days to dry, then attempt to power it on. Mind you, it may or may not work. If you often drink soda or coffee near your laptop or tend to drop things, I might suggest a Panasonic Toughbook. They're expensive, but they're built to withstand torture.
