There are reliable reports that they are Going to release an Beta Instant Messenger/Internet telephony service called Surprise! Google Talk Perhaps today? No link yet.(post it if you see it? thanks)

My work group actually partners with Google on a project called "real search" and we have direct contact with managers at Google. We have not heard of any upcoming press releases regarding this. At one point there was talk of Google buying out a messenger service but this has not been finalized.

Of course you know how it is in the corporate world....we know nothing, we see nothing, we hear nothing, we say nothing....until the designated time but when I get to work tomorrow I'll make some calls and see if I can get the latest info from anyone.

Download Google Talk

To use Google Talk, you must sign in with your Gmail username and password. Your Gmail contacts are pre-loaded and the people you communicate with most often will show up in your Google Talk Friends list.

To use Google Talk, you need Windows 2000, Windows XP (Home & Pro), or Windows Server 2003. You'll also need a minimum 56k dial up connection, but a broadband connection is recommended.
