Since having XP and over time downloaded all the updates, which represent them selves in ADD/REMOVE, and guessing about 50MB worth.....is there away to somehow copy these, say to a CD incase of a crash....to install again.
I can`t find them anywhere with a search on the C drive or in the registry?..any ideas welcome.

Using the XP myself, I have found that the system hides all of the 'non user operational' files, but you can select the ability to see the files. Or you can go: My computer>C:>Program files...

You can find about everything you may need there. Also in the program files folder, you can highlight and select 'send to CD'

Sure I can download SP1 and SP2 fixes and have had no problem...the question is IN ADD/REMOVE there are about 20 or so Service packs/Hot fixes etc......what I want to do is to find them and copy to CD...(A) to install on another PC without having to do to the Microsoft site and download again 125MB on dial up yes sure! and (B) have them on hand to reinstall if necessary.

I have searched all the options (Show hidden files etc) looked for SP1/ SP2 /Hotfixes......been to the registry and searched there too...........the only thing I can think of is when they are installed they take on a completely new name and guise and are not available to copy...so to cut a long story short have given up....but thanks again for the suggestions.

I don't know of anyway to save the already downloaded/installed hot fixes on your computer to a CD. You could download the hot fix files and save them to your hard drive, then transfer them to a CD.

Windows XP Downloads

Dwight

P.S. After posting I looked closer at the page I linked above and noticed it is only Windows XP SP1 but doesn't show the separate hot fixes. In the Windows 98 section, the Critical Items are shown separately. I looked for these for Win XP and didn't find them, so I'm not sure this is going to be of much help. I thought I would leave this here, though so you could look for these separate hot fix downloads.
