Is it possible to load a single program from the start up disk without running the whole disc? I erased windows media and would like to get it back. I tried media 9 and didn't like it so I would like to get it off the disc ' but I have several things loaded not on the disc and would like not to loose them. Thank to any assistance I can get. You didn't mention the Windows version that you're running, but depending on what it is, you may be able to install the Windows Media Player that came with your original installation.

Go to the Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs utility and open it. Click the "Windows Setup" tab, then select the "Multimedia" entry. Click the "Details" button and put a check in the "Media Player" option. Click "OK".

You may be prompted to put in your Windows CD.

If Dwight's answer does not resolve your problem, you can download the

Windows Media Player (9)

from the Window Update program.

I just downloaded this program myself about twenty minute ago.
