+1 pound of lentils +2 roma tomatoes +1 small onion +5 hot dogs +some vegetable oil +1 clove of garlic +salt
1. Boil water with a clove of garlic and a pinch of salt. When water is boiling add the lentils. Do not add lentils to cold water, they taste bad, believe me.
2. While that´s cooking, finely chop up the tomatoes and onion. Slice the hot dogs and set aside.
3. When the lentils are done they´ll be soft. And they should have a taste good. If they taste like water it´s because you need to add more salt and boil a while longer. If the water gets low add more water until they´re done cooking. If you add water, add more salt. If they´re done turn off.
4. Heat up a couple teaspoons of vegetable oil. Fry up the hot dogs until brown, then add tomatoes and onions and fry until tender. Then add the lentils with the broth and bring to a boil. This plate finished should be soupy but not too water. It should have a nice texture. When the lentils cool the broth will get thicker.
If you want, you can subsitute the vegetable oil for frying a couple pieces of bacon up and frying the hot dogs in the bacon fat. It gives everything an all around better flavor!
