My friend told me she was having problems with her car lately, so I took it for a drive earlier this week. Everytime I take my foot off the gas it would stall. This car is a fuel injected vehicle, and when you go to try to start it you have to step on gas just to get it to start. Now could this be the fuel pump, or what.

It sounds to me that the fuel injectors need to be cleaned/replaced. The fuel pressure could be low, but I don't think that's where the problem is.
If the car is electronic fuel injection (EFI), which it most likely is, giving it gas to start it should make absolutely no difference at all since the car's ECU controls all this. By opening the throttle, you are allowing more air to enter the engine which would seem to indicate a very rich fuel condition, which is not consistent with the stalling problem.
I would start by inspecting all the filters in the intake system - air filter, breather filter. Then you might want to try a fuel injector fuel additive. Chevron Techron is a pretty good one. There is also a more expensive cleaner kit (about $90, I think) that does a really good job of cleaning dirty injectors. But if any of the injectors are bad there is nothing to do but replace them.
