Believe me, I have searched many sites. I can't find a reasonable value for my dad's 76 LTD station wagon, garaged, in original condition.
My dad has no memory of giving the car to my son. He swears he gave it to me. Keep in mind that my dad has Alzheimer's. I cannot fit this large of a car in my garage, which is my basement. It is stored outside, at my home. We all know that cars of the 70s rust out quickly.
Can anyone give me an idea of what this car is really worth? I have looked at many sites that vary within 10k, which doesn't help my family. My parents should know how much money they are giving away.
Your best bet may be to contact an insurance company that specializes in old cars. Frankly, I see nothing collectable about a 1976 Ford LTD station wagon, except possibly its age. In my opinion, it's worth whatever you can sell it for. If you can get $10,000 for it, you really should jump on that offer.

Unfortunately, Dorian is correct, the '76 LTD wagon is not a "classic" or a collecter item, except in very small niches. You might simply have it appraised... the appraisal would probably cost between 50 and 100 dollars, but that would provide independant documentation of the car's value. Your best bet for finding an appraiser for this purpose is to contact a local car club for references.
