I need some help regarding an 88 Olds Cutlass Supreme, 2 door, 2.8, 6cyl auto. I came home and went to start the car the following day and it would not start. The fuel pump was not making it's normal start up noise, nor did it make the shut down noise when I turned the car off. Seems my fuel pump went! Ok, so I know to drain the gas (full tank of course) in order to drop the tank and get to the pump. Issue at hand is I apparently have some kind of anti-siphon device in my fuel intake tube, where the gas flows into the tank. Then siphon hose goes down just so far and then. . nothing. Any advice on how to get around this? I'm dying to get in this car again!!

While I am not an expert on Olds Cutlass, don't make the same mistake I mad once.

After draining the tank and dropping it to replace a bad fuel pump, I found a panal was located under the rear seat of my car.

Only made sense to me that they had thought of this in there design.

Yours may be in the the trunk out under your real seat.

The gas can be siphoned out using small diameter tubing. You can find this in pet stores and the tubing is used for running aerators in fish tanks.

Another alternative is to see if there is a drain plug located on the gas tank.

If there is another alternative, I'll post Monday. I will be seeing a friend that does this line of work.

I was going to suggest pet store too. Look for aquarium equipment.

Now that we know how to syphon gas, do you think the neighbors would mind if we borrowed gas every now and then?
