Not sure if this is the right category to put this problem under, but it's somewhat automobile related. Here goes.
In my vehicle, there is a Sony in-dash CD player, with a detachable faceplate. I don't know anything else about the stereo--it came with the vehicle, but it's not a factory stock stereo system.
Every morning, when I leave, the CD player doesn't work properly. It skips, sometimes just doesn't play, and occasionaly comes up with an error message on the little screen. Sometimes it requires all of my 15-minute commute before it gets working. But in the afternoon when I leave to go home, the CD player works just fine. This doesn't seem like normal "behavior," so what might be causing it? I'm rather hesitant to take the thing in to have a professional look at it--I'm planning on selling my vehicle soon (and passing my CD player problems off on some unsuspecting soul, heh heh heh).

Yes, this did start with the cooler weather. I seem to recall it happening last winter too. I think you have pinpointed my CD player problem--I'll have to get that looked at, now that I have an idea of what is probably wrong with it.
Thanks a bunch!
Oh, another thing... Will continuing to use the CD player when it is cold and the lubrication is dried out burn out the motor and ruin the CD player?

Glad to help. It may. Hard to say if it will just stall to a stop or ruin the bearings along the way. As this motor does not have much torq, I feel it will just stall.
