I’ve got another question.

I know it is a marine stereo radio but car stereos work the same way.

I have a JBL Model MR15 marine receiver cd player.

The wiring is pretty simple, but I want to make sure of something.

There is a wire labeled “B+ ignition”.
I know this goes to the “power while key on” location.
It is the positive power (12VDC)

There is another wire labeled “Back-up B+”.
Is this the wire they used to call “memory”?
It would go to a constant source (positive) 12VDC. (Battery)
I think it’s the wire so the pre-sets don’t get lost when you turn it off.

The Manual stinks, and JBL’s website does not help either.
I called the number on the manual several times today. (I left several messages that have gone unreturned.)

Thanks

You would have one B+ for operation and the other is either panel lights, or memory or both. Just as like car system, when you shut off the key, the unit will shut down. Some type of power is needed to hold the volatile memory.

Also, the panel lights so when the unit is off you can see it in the dark although I am not sure this would be the case for a boat. Like in a clock.

Like you have already figured, wire one wire to the key switched power and the other before the switch.

I have installed the cd receiver. All is working great. (Thanks WOW)

While I was playing with it last evening I discovered something that I feel is flat out stupid!

I listen to cd music or AM radio most of the time. Baseball games, good all news stations can only be found on AM in my area.

This stupid receiver does not come with standard AM tuning capabilities!

On the last page of the manual it says “AM tuner (option).” mad

This afternoon I went to where my wife purchased it. The kids there did not have a clue. I called the service number (and left several more messages with no response mad ) today also.

Anyone ever hear of a radio where AM is an option? confused I might have to return the thing and get one that has AM.
