Hi! smile I have a question about my driver's license. It says that it expires on (my birthday), 2003. But, I turn 21 this year. It does say "Under 21 until (my birthday) 2002"...
So, what do I do? Do I get it renewed on my birthday this year, or next year?
Thank you! smile

From the way you word it, it sounds like the license is merely stating your age group.

The best thing would be to call the DMV (License Bureau) and ask them for clarification and about any further restrictions.

And early Happy 21st Birthday!

You just keep your license until its time to renew. If someone is checking your ID they will look at the birthdate not the under 21 mark. If you really don't want it to say under 21 you tell the DMV you lost it and they will issue you a new one for a small fee.
You renew on your birthday 2003.. NOT when you turn 21 in 2002.

I thought it was a good question. As a bartender, I do a LOT of carding, and not everyone that I card is from my home state, and every state has different laws pertaining to what is or is not a valid I.D. for serving alcohol to consumers. It is, sometimes, very confusing trying to determine the validity of a persons legal drinking status from a I.D/ drivers license, which is why we are issued a book from the state that has picture examples from every state, plus some from Canada, & Mexico, along with written clarifications on under 21, non driver I.D.'s, etc.
btw, game42r42, your post was a total waste of computer space.

One thing that has always struck me about this forum is that everyone tries to be helpful and above all everyone is courteous and well mannered. LVLF, you are absolutely right, game42r42's response was uncalled for and rude. If you like to be insulting then go somewhere else and do it. There are enough rude, ill mannered people in this world. Don't bring that here.
