The above marine CD player will not stay latched in the closed position. This is not an old unit and has led a sheltered life. It just started doing this a couple of days ago. I would like to know why and how to repair it. It is in a boat so it is not easy to pull into the local repair shop. Thanks

I don't think you problem can be solved here. I think you need to pull it out of the boat and take it to a shop to have it looked at. If you really can't pull it out, ask around a marina if they know of someone who makes "House Calls" or in your case, boat calls. I am sure the marina has someone they use for their marine electronis repairs.
In my younger days, I work on marine air conditioning. Had contracts with several marinas to do their A/C work. Been on some nice yachts. Some better with better A/V equipment then my house.
If you trailer your boat, may be you could take the whole boat to their shop.
It is hard to diagnose with out laying of the hands. Need to SEE what is happening.
