Do you have a new car that has keyless entry, and if so does it work properly? I have a setting which locks the doors when you leave the car and is supposed to go off when someone trys to vandalize the car, but it is not working properly. I will go into the store and it goes off within 15 mins. Now I don't think it's just the wind blowing it, I think it is a malfunction since it has done so many times. I asked the dealership about it and they say they do not see anything wrong with it, just brushing me away, of course. They are like that to women. So I was wondering is there a site on the internet that has any instructions on Hyundai's Elantra GLS.

Soaringhorse, here is a link to the US gov't recalls on automobiles. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/recalls auto.htm

You will need to scroll to the bottom of the page and enter the make, model and year of your car.

If there has not been a recall, let us know. We'll get you a link to fix your problem.

hmm... that sounds weird. AI have a 2003 Hyundai Elantra GT and never have had that problem. The only problem I have had keyless enry wise is I hit the button to unlock the doors and they don't unlock sometimes.

I am rying to research and see if I can find any info. on your probem. It sounds rather interesting. I myself would like to know what could be causing this. I haven't found much yet but I am still looking. What year is yours, anyway?

I will keep you posted when I find some information.

My car is a 2001 Hyundai, Elantra, GLS and it has been doing this for about a year. I did see somewhere on the net about the car alarm randomly going off with this make, and model, anyone else?

Update on this post. I finally got the dealership to fix the car alarm, about time! I just wanted to let you know what else happened. I lost my gas cap, about two months ago, so I just went to an automotive place (actually had to try two different places to get the right one), and put it on my car because I had lost my original one when gassing my car. So the Check Engine light has been coming on, right? The transmission was making a big thud, like something had hit me in the rearend. Then the car didn't have much power, like it was the transmission going out. So when I would park it, turn the key off, it would go away. Well, it did this about three times, and it always made the transmission act up, like it wouldn't come out of the passing gear. When I took it to the dealership, they ran a diagnostic on it, and an error message came up with "Improper fuel cap, not vented". The man that helped me there said to just drive it, and if it does it again, let him know. Well, needless to say it did do it again, two days in a row. I learned to turn it off, release the fuel cap, and turn it back on and no problem. I finally called the dealership and just told him to order the stupid fuel cap, and I went to pick it up. The thing I'm getting at is, it's doing fine now, no Check Engine light or anything, is that weird or what. I mean when the manual says use Genuine Hyundai Parts, it means it. So don't accept the parts that these stores give you unless you are positive they are for the specific make and model for your car. Especially on these newer cars.

Oh my god, I just tried that site, NCcichlid, and found a recall on it, the side air bags don't deploy. Thank you for posting that link, I have it in the shop anyways, check engine light still coming on, so I'll tell them about it, I really appreciate it. Wink

my check engine light came on too recently. I immediatly got in contact wit the company. The lady told me over the phone that I needed to twist the gas cap around and drive for about a half hour/45 minutes. That did the trick! She explained what caused it but stupid me I have forgotten already!! Roll Eyes Frown

We have a place here in Portland called Hyundai Heaven. They sell nothing but used Hyundai parts. It's like a junkyard. It's perfect for little things such as gas caps or console parts or whatever. Perhaps there might be something similar in your area? Just a suggestion.

Hope all works out well with your car.
